All around us, stones can be found that seem to have lost their place. Once carried here by natural forces or human hands, they now wander without a destination. In Wandering Stones, I explore how these stones can find a new home.

The project consists of a series of candleholders, precision-cast in aluminium and individually designed to fit each stone like a puzzle piece. Inspired by the Japanese ishibadate tradition and the architectural principles of the Bossche School, the designs create a dialogue between the rugged, natural forms of the stones and the human precision of the aluminium.

The project emerged during Grondwerk, a research programme for emerging makers held at the Broedplaats Bossche School.

Wandering Stones invites us to reconsider overlooked materials and discover how they can find new meaning through attention, research and design.
